    Arthritis

by Joan Marie Sorita, Bellevue, WA

Have you ever got so fed up with the knee pain that you wished at times you could have a new leg? After many tests with doctors, physical therapy and x-rays, I still was told I have to live with my pain. I was so upset knowing I was limited in my movement and what I could physically do in my life.

The bad flare-ups with pain that comes along with my knee injury and arthritis would sometimes make me use a cane just to get through the day. I decided not to give up, something told me to keep searching for an alternative, Dr Erkang Hu was my alternative. A very well- known vet that does acupuncture on animals referred me.

His name is Richard Panzer and he is a gifted healer. He said that I really need to go to Dr. Hu. She lives, thinks and eats acupuncture. I am so very grateful for her and skill of her healing art. The reduction is incredible. I can go months without having an acupuncture session now. I never knew how much it could relieve arthritis pain and scar tissue pain. It took 8 sessions to really calm down the pain. I am very scared of needles but endured the treatments and found them to be very painless. If you have pain I highly recommend that you give acupuncture an honest try.

    Back Pain

    by Debra Daniels-Zeller

I am 51 years old, and I take aerobics four times a week, lift weights and run once a week. For over a year I had problems with lower back pain and very tight muscles in both legs. Gradually the pain was getting worse. I could no longer run and was barely able to do any leg strengthening exercises without experiencing pain, despite doing numerous stretches daily. I saw physical therapists, tried ultrasound, deep tissue massage and even got new orthotics from a sports therapy clinic. The last physical therapist told me I should not run until I got a heel lift because one leg was shorter than the other and this was the cause of my problems.

Before I followed his suggestion,I came to ErKang Hu to tryacupuncture. To my surprise, after the first visit, the pain began to subside. I no longer used ice after exercising. I didn’t have to take ibuprofen and soak in hot tubs for pain relief. Recently, I ran around Greenlake for the first time in months. My friends are amazed at my improvement from acupuncture.

I highly recommend ErKang Hu – she was able to achieve results with acupuncture that no one else could. I am now pain-free and will continue to use acupuncture as part of my healthy lifestyle plan.

    Chemotherapy

    by Howard Domnitz

What’s in the prick of a pin? Acupuncture…an ancient Chinese modality that employs locating pins (or is it needles?) along the body’smeridian lines, causing some type ofenergizing to take place. Yes, I was askeptic, thinking this would be a longshot! I thought it would be painful, or at least uncomfortable. But I go right to sleep and wake up refreshed and energized.

I had previously used acupuncture to attempt to cure my prostate cancer; however, it did not work as the cure. But this time I came for acupuncture to excite my CHI. Yes, my energy level was diving quickly and I was losing my drive and ability to tolerate the chemo regime I was being treated with.

The first treatment energized me for a total of one evening. However, subsequent treatments have extended my energy level for several days. In addition to my energy state, this treatment significantly reduced my upset stomach and nausea symptoms. Therefore, it is my opinion that this weekly acupuncture treatment has made a most impressive toleration of the infused drug Taxitere.

Thank you, Dr. Hu, for helping me to get through my chemo. You are an angel!

    Colds and Flu

Whenever I get that ‘about to come down with something’ feeling, I go see Dr Hu and nip it in the bud. Acupuncture really works for me. I always walk out of there feeling much better than when I walk in.

    Crohn’s Disease

    by Scott F.

I must admit, at first I was skeptical as to whether or not acupuncture could help me. My career in healthcare, and years of living with Crohn’s Disease have exposed me to very few alternatives to Western medicine. In 2007, after almost 12 years in remission, I began to experience some mild symptoms which raised some concern. Over the next three years, (2007-2010) the symptoms began to worsen. My physician tried a variety of treatments and medications to help relieve some of these issues with little to no avail. Sensing my anxiety and frustration, my life partner suggested that I consider seeing an acupuncturist. strongly believed it might provide some relief based on the positive outcomes his patients have experienced.

After receiving the highest of recommendations from a friend and colleague, I began seeing Dr. Hu in April of 2010. She has an exceptional knowledge of Chinese medicine and provides a caring and compassionate environment focused on healing. After only two appointments, I was amazed at how much better I was feeling and that the symptoms I had been experiencing for almost three years had virtually disappeared. I have continued to see Dr. Hu in conjuction with my gastroenterologist for maintenance of my symptoms and a few other issues such as arthritis and fatigue which she has also been able to help eliminate.

If you are reading this testimonial, you are probably considering treatment either for yourself or a loved one. I strongly encourage you to try Chinese medicine in conjunction with any Western medicine treatments you are having success with to achieve a different state of wellness. Remember to keep an open mind, relax and let the acupuncture work for you. Much like any medicines and therapies, it may take a few appointments before you begin to see any relief, but long term, it will definitely be worthwhile.

    Enuresis (bed wetting)

    by Anonymous

My daughter, age 7, hadacupuncture treatments with Dr. Hu for nightly bed-wetting. Within just a few treatments, the problem has been completely relieved. It has been months now without any problems. She had no problems with the treatments; found them painless and peaceful. We’re very satisfied with the level of concern and service at Kang Acupuncture.

    Eye Disease

    by Jon D.

Having been exposed to acupuncture many years ago as a young man, and having lived and worked in many different cities, I have had the experience of being treated by a number of acupuncturists for various injuries and discomforts. So I am fortunate in that I can compare my experiences with ErKang to a variety of other acupuncturists, over a period of nearly 30 years.

“Great” is a big word, and in my opinion probably the most overused word in American English. “Great” in any occupation is rare, just as a great book, or a great movie is rare. But I can say with confidence that ErKang Hu is a genuinely great acupuncturist. Her background and training (both elite), along with her own obvious enormous talent and work ethic have made her great. The evidence of her being great is, for me, the results I’ve seen being treated by ErKang over the past 7 years, for a variety of sports injuries, and low grade ailments.”

Acupuncture with ErKang has helped me recover from knee and back injuries. It has helped with internal digestive troubles. And most significantly for me, at this stage of my life, acupuncture with ErKang Hu is critical for my one serious complaint, which is a medically diagnosed, congenital, degenerative eye condition. I’ve been treated for this condition by several of the best eye doctors in the country.

The symptoms of my eye condition are difficulty focusing the eyes close-up. And eye glasses, if one needs them, exacerbate this condition. So if one requires reading glasses and has this condition, it is a very difficult combination. The condition makes reading and therefore learning difficult for children and young adults. (Ninety percent of those with it do not go to college. Children with reading glasses are the most seriously afflicted.) And the condition gets worse as one ages.

But I was fortunate in that I did go to college. And graduate school. And I have had a life and career involving work which requires a considerable amount of reading. And equally important, I love to read. But 9 years ago, when I needed reading glasses for the first time, the condition fell off a cliff. And I went from ‘functional’ with long hours and much effort, to suddenly not able to read for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a stretch. And with this, my mental focus, in simplest terms, my retention of material also dissipated. Suddenly I could only read for minutes. And I couldn’t remember much of what I read. I was in despair.

Looking for help, I flew around the country and saw three leading doctors in this arena. The bottom line was nothing changed. A handful of years passed, and I struggled immensely.

I had never considered acupuncture for my eyes, simply from ignorance. As much as I had used acupuncture over the years to treat this and that complaint, I had no idea it could help my eyes. And no doctor ever recommended it to me. Perhaps 5 years ago, out of literal desperation, I turned to ErKang for help. She had treated me successfully for sports injuries and some minor ailments. I simply had never thought to ask if she could help my eyes.

ErKang under-promises and over-delivers. That is her way. She does not hype, or self-sell. ErKang said she thought acupuncture could help but could not cure this problem. And she said she did not know for sure if it could even help. She experimented, in the most positive sense of the word, with a variety of approaches to treating my eyes. (Acupuncture is, like all medicine, both a skill and an art.) We experimented on length of time between treatments. And we have now, through her skill and my feedback, found a treatment protocol which is by far the most effective for my eyes I’ve had. I see her every ten days to two weeks. These regular treatments allow me to read for much longer stretches, and with much greater retention of material. In terms of work, it keeps me in the game.

The results are so impressive that my main eye doctor, a nationally known man in this arena, now says he wants to investigate acupuncture as a treatment (not cure) for this condition. What I would add is…he should. His patients would be much the better for it.

I would unreservedly recommend ErKang Hu to anyone seeking acupuncture treatment. And if you are one of the many who have not yet been exposed to acupuncture, and are simply considering it; or if you are a person who has perhaps had one or two acupuncture treatments before at the hands of less experienced practitioners, I would encourage you to try acupuncture with ErKang, and see how it works for you.

If you get the results I have, you will be very happy.
